Mt Barker Opening Meeting Review

Opening day at Mt Barker Turf Club was held last Sunday with a good crowd in attendance and good racing on the track.  Eight year old Jolanta Star returned in great style with an impressive first up win.

Trainer Steve Wolfe trained a double with promising filly Tee Pee Cat winning at her second start and Stone Boy winning over stablemate Nigels Gold by a nose. The stable missed out with well fancied runners Miss Legacy, Cargo Cruiser and January Boys who finished out of the placings.

Consistent Book Club gave apprentice Alex Hearn the first leg of a double, and he also booted home Calamine at long prices. Gerry Hughes trained Spinning Kitty made a winning debut with a good win over Nazotic who also caught the eye.

The final race of the day gave trainer Paul Hunter his first winner for the season when favourite Traxa raced away to win easily.

Albany Racing opening meeting Sunday November 4th

The Great Southern racing season commences this Sunday at Albany with a six event card the first to get away at 2pm.   Though not big fields, some interesting races, and finding winners may not be easy.

Weather in the Great Southern this week, has seen a small amount of rain, which should not greatly affect the track, which looked in good order at a recent trial day. Collie Races October 27th - in Pictures

A big crowd was track side for the annual Collie Race Club meeting, held in warm weather. A seven race programme was covered by the WA TAB, with keen racing throughout.  Jockey Peter Farrell rode a treble, whilst Trainer Adam Durrant and Jockey Chloe Chatfield teamed for a stable double and were runner up in two other races.

The Collie Cup saw the Peter Morley trained, The Moon Day win after a fantastic duel with Scotland Street all the way up the straight.  The Collie Sprint was won by favourite Easi Cummins, who held out the fast finishing Saddington.

Collie on Cox Plate Day - 7 Races

Good nominations were received for the annual Collie races top be held this Saturday October 27th.  The meeting will be covered by the WA TAB, and the seven event card kicks off at 1.15pm with near capacity field in every race.

Punters will be well catered for with the big meeting at Moonee Valley coverage on course with betting with Bookmakers and Tote as well as an uninterrupted coverage on Sky Channel. As usual there will be many activities for racegoers including Fashions Of The Fields, Children's rides and plenty of food and drink available.

Race trials will be held at Albany on Friday October 19th commencing at approx 9.30am , ahead of the first meeting at Albany on Sunday November 4th.

Food and refreshments are available, and everyone is welcome to attend the trials. The office is also open for any racegoers who are looking to purchase season memberships, which if you are a regular racegoer give you good savings and the use of the Members amenities on course.

Bunbury Turf Club - Melbourne Cup Day

Other the past few years I have been afforded the opportunity to broadcast the Melbourne Cup day meeting at Bunbury, which always draws a good crowd and a solid day of racing. A very professional run club, which has great amenities for the public to enjoy there day out at the races.  Gates open early so the public can settle in to have a bet and watch the Melbourne Cup before the local races commence.
