Mt Barker Sunday November 17th Wrap

Hard day at the office, with the tipping right out the window, basically "hithouse", but Mt Barker can be like that. The idea of running an open Maiden as the last race of the day, I think is full of merit for future meetings.

Honours on the day. To wind up an exciting week for popular Jockey Ed Creighton, he rode a treble, trainer Paul Hunter a double and good to see trainer Paul Roberts with a change of luck.

Race 1: Well supported Spirit Level romped away to win very easily. Eye On The Ball was a solid debut and Due Warning was a fair effort. Queen O War and Topped Up Girl looked to have every chance.

Race 2: Inexpressible opened tight then drifted but gave a good display on debut to just win after sitting off a fast pace. Corella raced on the pace and this could have contributed to the narrow defeat. Gunpowder Grey ran a good close up third at her debut. Miss Torio looked to go too hard in front and faded. Everybodys Angel disappointed after having a good run.

Race 3: The Tenby Friar carried a big weight but still won easily. Parador first up ran on well. Book Club was well placed, but never travelled like it could win. Timely Reign will improve on the run.

Race 4: Hot Goth second up won in a canter, over King Cubator and Star Buck who battled away. Cobble Lane had a tough run and plugged away. Ninu Yarada will improve on the run.

Racce 5: Key Hedge broke a long run of outs with a fighting win over Bantry Bell who had every chance. Blackwell Reach finished 3rd, but was disappointing again. Frank Be Nimble could not sprint with them at top of straight and looking for more ground. Lone Princess got home nicely.

Race 6: Real Bonita has been knocking on the door and hard ridden just won over Empress Of Ireland who has put two good runs together. The Park Dancer ran on strongly, Tripple Bibble looked to have every chance, though had restricted racing room. City Of Subiaco looked to have every chance but did race in restricted room in the straight.

Race 7:  An open Maiden to wind up the day, I think is a great idea. Strange Brew racing fresh sprinted well and fought back to beat Ariel Passion. Solitarian got home nicely along the fence and Final Zed ran on again. Pay to overlook Bettsie's run from a wide draw, but Hell Of A Fella has had too many chances now.

Thanks to Onpreeya for the photo's, not bad from a Galaxy S3 mobile.
