Albany Trial Report Sunday October 25th

Thirteen trials were held at Albany last Sunday in warm sunny but very windy conditions. The track looked in good order with the false rail out to the home turn and with a cutaway in the straight. Full trial results are available at www.rwwa.com.au/cris/trial.aspx?meeting=3473 .  Speedy mare Elegancy upstaged her more seasoned opponents when a strong winner over 600m. In a trial stacked with good performers, good trials were also put in by Noble Steed, Week Bix and Becks. Unraced Wolfe Brother went to the line under a tight hold when the winner in a 600m Two Year Old trial. Jeneviv looks an early winner for trainer John Askevold after a nice trial effort over 1000m, the mare showed ability from limited starts last season.  Handy mare Movie World walked out the gates went round the field and came away for a solid 1000m trial win for comeback jockey Dean Esmonde. Only a 1 3/4 lengths separated the six runners in the trial which included Tangram and Carellan Steel.The mare with maturity looks capable of chasing a city win this season. Carbineer looks set for a great year on his trial performance along with Trochee (tro-key) also ran a nice trial for trainer Allen Ashworth. Both were placed behind Canny Besain. Mark Nelson trained, unraced Ertam produced the quickest 600m trial in 33.06s, whilst the quickest 1000m trial was recorded by From The Fire who was ridden out in 1.00.7s.
