Possible Thunderstorm 16°C RAIL: True, 2m (1000m-600m)
A big eight event card is set down for this Thursday at Mt Barker with capacity fields in all races with the exception of the Open Sprint which continues on with the trend of small fields in the higher rated races in the Great Southern. Leading Jockey, Jason Whiting who is currently 31st overall in Australia on stakemoney earned in the past 12 months will make a rare appearance on the Great Southern circuit. Leading South West trainer Peter Giadresco also makes a regular trip to a happy hunting ground for him.

Race One: Very open Maiden to commence the day. Silver Business was an even run last start, and has good prospects though back 100m in distance. Pulashaky was a fair third first up and will appreciate the extra ground. November Red was placed twice at Albany last season, and a fair effort at Bunbury first up. Stablemate Dinglish raced on the pace when close up at Pinjarra and is well drawn here. Key To Target ran its best race in six starts last start, but is badly drawn here. Jeneviv just got beaten in a tight finish first up. The 1300m looks to suit here but is drawn awkwardly. It'll Be Sweet was doing best work at finish when first up over 1000m. Missy Lara impressed at debut when making ground late, but again has drawn wide. Shovely looked good in a Albany trial, but then unplaced in most recent 1000m trial.
Race Two: Small field, but very interesting race. He's Smokin returns after a long injury enforced lay off, and may just need this run to be back at peak. Tidal Storm had a hard run first up and expect big improvement. Secret Courier did not get any favours in the run last start and battled on well. Watson's Bay steps up in class but down in weight after easy winning in lesser company first up. Titcherman resumes and will be doing his best work at the finish.
Race Three: Not a lot of exposed form here in a very open Maiden. Designer Diva was a solid effort first up and is close to a win. Cognac Blue was a solid effort at her debut over the straight 1000m at Pinjarra and drops in class here. Glowing Vain raced well last season when fresh and was knocking on the door to break through. Dainty's Fury again has not fared well at the barrier, but was a top effort last start when just beaten out of a place after leading. Cheval Rose resumes after a fair effort at second start 12 months ago. Adams Time makes debut and trialled nicely at Albany last week.
Race Four: Lining up the form in this race is difficult, and finding the winner should come at reasonable odds. Trochee was a nice effort first up after a long break, but has drawn the highway here. Mr Magnificent was alot better second up when running on, but was along way from the winner. Cervino raced in stronger company last campaign and resumes here and likely to go back from wide draw. Raunchy Business won well first up and was not far away when placed last start over 1500m. Rhapsodie Heights was an easy Collie winner last outing and has shown ability. Tangram will improve on late finishing 4th first up this track, and will go close. Aknightus should get a good run from an inside draw. Look for Deed I Do to improve on first up effort at Pinjarra. Royalistic & The Might Boosh will strip fitter second up but meet a solid field.
Race Five: Another strong race for form. Stormyglow had race won everywhere but on line first up and meets the winner Well Adjusted 1.5kg better at the weights, and will have strong prospects again. Canny Besain won easy first up in much weaker company, but capable of going on with it. Not So Secret resumes from an awkward draw, with best form over more ground. Ozcapades was not far away first up at Bunbury and is capable. Royal Mount was close up at Pinjarra last outing, but drawn wide here. Cummings put in a much better effort second up, but stronger field here. Westen Navajo was a good effort first up, drawn badly again but can surprise if can get across.
Race Six: Jolanta Star is the best performed horse in the field, and gets a 4kg claim but loses experience in the saddle with apprentice Alex Lawrence taking his fourth race ride. Timely Reign will have improved on moderate first up effort. Billyaintsilly put in best effort for sometime last start but this is harder. Spirited Rocket is second up after good effort Ascot Mid Week. Form last campaign was consistent. The Tax Man was a nice effort first up and is unbeaten at this track. Sir Onan was a fair effort first up, this trip will suit better. Radio Pleasure & Late Change both lucked out last start and pay to overlook both runs. Commandeer was not far away first up, but meets stronger company here and drawn badly.
Race Seven: Evil Force needed the run first up and will strip much fitter here from a good draw. Spitfighter mixes his form, but is very capable, and has prospects. Pwakkers Back was gallant first up and better suited this trip but drawn wide. Magic of Silver races forward but will need to overcome bad draw. Mullah Bay is never faraway this company. Marshall Jensen trialled well at Albany last week.
Race Eight: Briello was ultra impressive at debut and can be prominent again though up in class. Cherpara won easily first up, but will find this tougher, but is capable. Russian To Win was placed here last start, but won't find this any easier. Stockmans Dream impressed in a recent trial and has claims though drawn badly. Zarisk resumes and has been consistent this grade previous. Fullglas and Irish Target both resume after winning Maiden last season, but overall form only fair. Doc Marshall and It's Nikov race fresh for new stables. If Ridgewood Starlight gains a start comes right into this race.
