Albany Preview/Review Thursday January 7th

Racing returned to Albany on Thursday, but after the first race the track was deemed unsafe and the remainder of the meeting was abandoned. In the first race, Favourite Albanyascot overcame a slow start to win, after Meclang slipped badly on the home turn creating a chain reaction with Speed Baby losing the rider after coming down. Thankfully horse and rider were unharmed.

Race One:  Albanyorascot looks the goods here on his very good first up run at this trip, but cannot afford to be tardy out of the barriers again. Dan Falbrav was a moderate effort first up and need to do better. Lukaston was not beaten far first up at Albany and has strong prospects. Baggervain did not show up at debut but can be an improver here. From The Fire yet to be placed in five starts, but well drawn here and capable of improving. Ain’tnolady resumes here and a forward showing is would not surprise. Marmel has not shown up in two starts but has trialed fairly recently. Royal Escapde just missed the pacings last start and well drawn here to be prominent.

Race Two: Carbineer back from slight setback, always hard to beat this company. Tidal Storm won two starts back but never likely last outing, and need to be at best. Titcherman yet to hit form this campaign but should be ready to produce best form. Lovely Lucy another who should be ready to show best after two moderate runs back. Brunelleschi fair effort first up and will strip fitter here. Master Marlon, pay to forget last run, and never faraway in this company. Punk’d in top form, goes up in class here though, but capable.

Race Three: Marshall Jensen produced good effort to win Mt Barker last start. Need to reproduce that run again. The Keillor Kid back in form with strong performances at last two. Look Here Trousers yet to how best this season and hard to follow, but drops a grade here. Stockman’s Dream faded last start with big weight, good effort at previous run. Cummings mixing form but best runs have been at this track.

Race Four: Impressive Johnson set a big task here first up at the distance. Sir Clase looked flat at second run back. Great record this distance and Jockey. Attadale placed in lesser company last start and untried this trip. Timely Reign was an easy winner last outing, placed all starts this distance. I’m A Rocker is race hard but moderate form last few. Movie World pay to forget last run in City, good record this trip but up in class. Ruberian suited the trip but struggling for form.

Race Five: Saramento knocking on the door with two good efforts back from spell, down in class up in weight. Spitfighter struggling for best form, anywhere near it would have claims here. Blazing Icon placed at two runs back, every chance last start. Honest but does not win many. All Spots not far away last few runs, and looks well placed here. Commandeer close up at last two starts and a win would not surprise. Magic Of Silver goes quick and good record at this distance. Myth N Mystery easy winner in moderate company, rises in class here. Tangram yet to reach best form this season, better suited this track.

Race Six: Sir Onan got home well last start to just miss, has big weight but suited here. Royalistic easy winner last outing and will handle extra 200m. Racso faded last start after fair second up effort. Has not won for sometime. Trochee fair effort when placed at 1600m last start, suited here. On The Double good winner at Mt Barker then fair effort at Bunbury. Yet to be placed this track. Canny Besain not sighted last few and improvement required. Carrellen Steel solid efforts since winning three starts back. Jarnac good effort at second race start but this a rise in class. Megablitz solid efforts at two runs back and will be suited this journey. St Peregrine placed at 1900m last start and race hard for this.

Race Seven: Jazzy Saint 1500m Maiden winner second up, this not much stronger. Chaddie not far away at last two and drops in class here. Pulashaky eight placings in 30 starts, and claims again here. Lauries Dream struggled last start, may go better ridden off the pace. Disco Reveller not much luck at last two runs and though drawn wide can surprise. Mctease placed in moderate company last start and this trip will suit. Heedvede has had plenty of chances, two starts back close up behind smart Meltdown Bunbury Maiden. Jordi game effort last start in stronger company. Need to reproduce that run.
