Mungrup Stud Sprint Day Mt Barker - Sunday January 17th

Mt Barker Turf Club’s feature raceday is this Sunday featuring the running of the $90,000 Mungrup Stud Sprint to be run over 1300m. A ten race card will be held in conjunction with the Annual Grapes and Gallops supported by local Wineries with a crowd upward of 2,500 expected. Racing starts at 12.09pm, with the meeting covered Australia wide with oncourse patrons having the benefit of the Big Screen to view the meeting.

Race One: Laurie’s Dream placed five of twelve this company. Only plodded last start after going forward. Chance, but may be better suited racing off pace. Jake The Musk beaten favorite at only two WA starts in stronger company. Strong claims here. Rivotio caught the eye at Mt Barker when running on strongly after encouraging Provincial form in six starts. La Mia Dorabella produced best effort in WA when running on late here over 1300m. Aloka drops in class, form moderate in seven race starts. Hililly not far away at two runs back from spell.



Race Two: Pervaricate fair efforts at two runs back in higher grade over 1500m & 1600m. Unplaced at only run at distance. Rock My Pago placed in Listed Race Ascot last start 1800m and class horse of field. One start at trip for a win. Impressive Johnson not placed at two runs at the trip and races first up here. Sir Clase has had two runs back and has been placed twice this trip in four starts. Timely Reign easy winner of 1600m at fourth run back and is race hard. Unplaced only run this distance.


Race Three: Pierucci placed two of seven starts resumed with fair effort Bunbury. On past form warrants respect this company. Bush Poem makes debut after Bunbury trail placing at 1000m. Ibrahimovic resumed with fair effort Bunbury 1100m at third race start. Octane Molly resumes from short let up after two fair efforts before failing Bunbury when reported shin soreness. Royal Escapade looked to have every chance last two runs. Drawn wide but will go forward. Montclar Miss placed Bunbury before moderate effort Mt Barker. Capable of better. Ivory Lady makes debut after moderate trial form.


Race Four: The Golden Dynamo placed seven in nineteen starts. Finished well back when resuming, but can do better. Puerto Galera three placings in twelve in much stronger company. Good effort first up Ascot mid week at 1400m. Pulashaky eight cheques in thirty runs, always about the place finding a win difficult. Hussonace tow good efforts at two WA starts at Mt Barker. Knocking on the door. Lizard Drinking fair efforts at two runs back, but need improvement to break through, but has nice draw. Heedvede moderate form but was fourth to smart Meltdown Bunbury two starts back. It’ll Be Sweet placed here five runs back but form since moderate. Cassco Girl yet to show up in two starts but now trained locally.


Race Five: Attadale dropped back in class and placed at latest outing. Has same weight and back 100m here. Jean Resumes here. Won two City mid weeks in last five starts, placed at only two starts this distance. Punk’d was a good winner at latest run Albany 1200m following up on previous good efforts. Good record this trip. Versaint will strip fitter after fair effort here first up. Won three at this journey. Pwakkers Back good effort last start this trip using the cutaway. Overall form encouraging. Saramento placed at two runs back and looks well placed here. Yet to win at the trip but placed four times in eight attempts.


Race Six: Sir Onan good effort when placed at 1500m, yet to race at this distance. Royalistic easy winner at 1600m last outing has won at 1800m first try this distance. Trochee fair effort last start at 1600m, gives indication this distance will suit. Carrallen Steel has won at this trip in six attempts. Current form is fair and race hard. Jarnac placed 100m Narrogin Maiden but rises in class here. I’m A Rocker form has tapered off last three runs, but is race fit and placed twice in three at trip. Jordi placed at 1600m last start but rises in class here. Ruberian has won this trip but sometime ago. Current form only fair. St Peregrine distant second at Narrogin 1900m and has yards in the legs.


Race Seven: Blazing Icon placed at last two and has similar prospects again. All Spots not far away at latest runs and rarely runs a bad race in this company. Cherpara followed consecutive wins with unplaced effort Ascot Mid week. Better suited here. Redford resumes from a spell. Winter Mid Week City form was solid. Pretty Often won first up here last season and resumes after fair form last time in. Trimconnection at second run back just got up over 1100m. Goes up in class with wide draw. Elleofgale won at cricket score odds after working wide in the run last start. Up in class here. Disney Time followed encouraging form with fair first up run Ascot Mid Week. Has wide draw but respect. Cervino not far away at latest two runs and drops back in distance here. Fullglas not shown up in three runs back but doing best work at finish at latest outing. Whittingham resumed and finished off well first up. Capable of surprising though this stronger field.


Race Eight: Proart gets in well on weights City form is hard to fault in good company. Will prove hard to beat from excellent gate. Beat The Storm resumes here after solid city form through the winter, nicely handicapped here. Electric General winner of this race last season just starting to strike form but barrier no help. Noble Steed past winner back from long injury lay off. Yet to reach peak form this time in. All Class steps up in grade and form in milder company has been reasonable. Carbineer best of locals but has missed racing due to a slight setback. Will be running on. Innovation form has been fair in solid city company but will need to be at best. Northwater Boy better effort at second run back in good company. Has good gate winner at the trip. Raw Metal drawn wide but good effort first up Ascot 1000m. Will need luck. Sheenasaidgrey struggled last two campaigns and likely to go forward from wide alley. Spitfire Ace solid efforts at two runs back in the City and set for this, comes in with good weight and barrier. Watsons Bay unbeaten this track but huge rise in class here and yet to measure up to city company, but cannot be overlooked.


Race Nine: Troubled Smile effortless win here 1300m last start. Drops a class but rises in weight, but last win was good. Height Of Heights in good form last time in and will be finishing on here first up. Star Buck followed close second with easy win here last outing. Harder here but form good. Stormyglow followed good local form with unplaced effort Mid Week Ascot. Better suited here. I’m Called Earl won Maiden first up then fair effort next start here 1300m. Has solid claims again from good draw. Marshall Jensen followed unlucky run with good win 1100m here. Meet similar field but unplaced only start this trip. Chaddie distance may not suit after fair effort at 1600m Albany. Mctease placed at 1200m second up but may be looking for more ground. Master Marlon looks well placed here if gets a run. Good effort at Ascot two runs back.


Race Ten: Speedy Bohemian good effort first up 1100m and will strip fitter. Goes up 3kg but still has claims. King’s Tribute not far away at two runs back. Comes back 100m here and unplaced at the trip.The Keillor Kid back in form with two good efforts at latest runs. Dark Humour resumes here. Won Northam two runs back and then solid effort Pinjarra in good company. Look Here Trousers form moderate but known to surprise, six wins at this trip. Daintysfury down 2.5kg in weight on latest run when wilted last 50m over 1100m. Will be up on the pace. Stockmans Dream pay to forget last run here 1100m. Down 2.5kg in weight but will need luck from wide draw. Ridgewood Manna just caught on the line last outing and due for a change of luck.
